Shanghai Baixia Pagoda Hotel, Shanghai

Staying at this hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms had full-length windows that made the space quite cold, and even the plates were chilly, which was a bit uncomfortable. On the positive side, the service was top-notch, with the staff offering an electric oil heater to keep us warm and being very friendly and accommodating. The location, though a bit far from the city center and with some confusion on finding it, was peaceful and conveniently near the West Shanghai Railway Station. Dining was a mixed bag, as breakfast was excellent one morning but not included in the price. The facilities were good overall but not without room for improvement.

After a tiring almost 14-hour flight followed by an hour-long taxi ride, all I wanted was to get to my room. The rooms were dirty and cold, which was disappointing. However, the service provided, even though the cleaning lady couldn't communicate well in English, was quite helpful and accommodating depending on their level of English. The location, though a bit confusing and lacking clear signage, was ideal for our needs being just a short walk to the West Shanghai Railway Station. The dining experience, unfortunately, was in poor quality compared to our expectations, especially before 7:00 am. The facilities offered were not exceptional.
